She needs our help.

One of the many benefits of living in a small town is the sense of community which has been developed. In times of tragedy it has a true power to uplift those affected by giving them a sense of strength and optimism.

On February 18, nine-month old Kenzie Sackman was diagnosed with transverse myelitis, a rare neurological disorder caused by the inflammation of the spinal cord resulting in loss of movement in the limbs and serious respiratory complications. Learn more about Transverse Myelitis.

Since 2016 she has been admitted into the Kennedy Krieger Institute located in Baltimore, Maryland twice for an intense 8 week rehabilitation. This center has a specialized program designed for individuals with transverse myelitis!

This is an extremely scary and emotional time for the Sackman and Deardorff families of Colville. Kenzie is struggling to regain the ability to move and breathe on her own. When they return home, Karey, Kyle, Kenzie, Haidyn, and Parker have a long road of recovery and adaptation ahead of them.
