Better week

Kenzie girl has had a good week 💗 we are so greatful after having a very long 3 weeks of Kenzie having a cold and uncomfortable days. Appreciate every minute Kenzie has of stability and comfort. I spoke with insurance today and we should be notified of an outcome of the 2nd level appeal for the surgery of a diaphragmatic pacer by the 13th 🙏🏻🤞.

Shipping out of SuperKenzue shirts has begun! Excited for people to get their shirts and start wearing them in support of SuperKenzie and her journey with Transverse Myelitis.
SuperKenzie shirts continue to be available for purchase at

Our goal is to raise a total of $5000. Between t-shirt sales and GoFundMe https://www.gofundme.com/superkenzies-night-time-caregiving
All funds raised go towards paying for Kenzie’s nighttime coverage.
Thank you SuperKenzie fans

SuperKenzie went to her first parade on Saturday! She was not too sure about the fire truck and police sirens 😬 She got very excited when she saw big brother and sister pass by in the parade route.
With Kenzie feeling better this last week, we have slowly been able to pick back up with therapies such as being in the stander and on her e-bike. Kenzie has a very variable sleep schedule. The last several days she has decided to take a few hour nap in the late afternoon and then be awake until 3am or 7am. If Kenzie is tired there is no keeping her awake or “making” her go to sleep. We are sure as the next few years go by she will get on a “normal” slept schedule. Very grateful for night shift coverage. Along with routine care needs, night shift also gets in a lot of reading, playtime etc.
I spoke with insurance this week regarding our 2nd level appeal to obtain approval for Kenzie to have surgery for a diaphragm pacer. I was informed that insurance has another 14 days, but up to a total of 45 days to provide an outcome. Hoping we have an answer (and it is an approval 🙏🏻) within this next week.

SuperKenzie had a very stable and fun ride to Spokane today to see her Pulmonologist. We received encouraging feed back from the Doctor, who said that Kenzie’s settings on her ventilator are very low. By low, this means that Kenzie is doing a lot of the work needed to breath. Once Kenzie gets fully over the cold that she has had for about 2 weeks, we will start pushing her a little bit more on changing and lowering settings. This is very exciting and we cannot wait to share how Kenzie does! Insurance will be reviewing our 2nd level appeal for the diaphragmatic pacer surgery (which can further assist Kenzie to breath on her own and get off the ventilator) on Thursday.

We have been asked if there are other ways to donate in lieu of purchasing a SuperKenzie shirt. We have opened up a GoFundMe account. All money donated will go towards private paying for Kenzie’s night shift coverage, which is currently 4 nights a week.

Thank You to all the SuperKenzie Fans

Good weekend

SuperKenzie is back to feeling good and over her cold! It has been a very long 3 weeks of Kenzie having a cold. We are very grateful for her returned stability and comfort. Now back to healing and getting her spine to reconnect. This last weekend we made it to the river as a family. Kenzie did great traveling and enjoyed watching the river flow (the river is very high and fast right now).

We want to give a very special THANK YOU to the Colville Junior High School 8th graders! The 8th grade class recently had their 8th grade social dance and this year they choose to donate the money raised from the dance to SuperKenzie, in support of her caregiving needs. We were very humbled when asked by the 8th grade ASB president and very blessed by continued support from our local community. It is so wonderful to see the school district teaching kids at a young age how important it is to give back to their community.

The SuperKenzie T-Shirt fundraiser is still going! All proceeds go to pay for Kenzie’s night time caregiver coverage. We private pay for 4 nights a week.

Last Thursday, insurance was scheduled to review our 2nd level appeal for the diaphragmatic pacer. We were notified that insurance had requested an extension, which is not the normal action. We agreed to the extension but have not heard from insurance as to when the appeal will be reviewed. Hoping this may be a good sign and as approval will be obtained.

**We will no longer be posting on CaringBridge. We will be posting the same updates here on www.SuperKenzie.com! We look forward to the SuperKenzie fans following in their preferred way either on FB or on Kenzie’s website. **
